HOLISTIC ADDICTION RECOVERY

Novō Communities centre on Christ, focus on the whole person, express grace and truth, promote freedom and responsibility, partner widely with local organisations. We view addiction as a whole-person problem (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) requiring a whole-person solution.

OUR PROGRAMME

Our communities use Beyond Addiction, our recovery manual, and involve 1-1 counselling, recovery groups, personal recovery exercises, opportunities to explore and grow in the Christian faith, vocational work and training, local church attedance, and life in community.

On our 24-week Therapeutic programme, residents address the past and prepare for the future, staying mainly within the security of the Novō community.

On our 12-week Transition programme, residents focus on ‘putting into practice’ learning and growth from the recovery programme, and establishing healthy relationships in the wider community.

We believe that long-term recovery is achievable, whatever a person’s story or circumstance, and that the best foundation for true freedom from addiction is a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ. However, we will never impose our viewpoint upon anyone, recognising freedom of choice in faith, as in other areas.

Novō Bolivia

The heart of our work is our recovery community in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, which is having measurable impact under the leadership of our local team.

Over the past year, the team in Bolivia have delivered 461 hours of counselling and 223 hours of recovery groups, alongside daily devotions, weekly Bible study, and local church attendance.

60% of our graduates are drug/alcohol-free today and many more men have experienced God’s grace and taken steps forward in recovery from addiction through their time with Novō.

Since 2021, Novō has developed a relationship with the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC) in Bolivia. The UNODC considers Novō to be a centre of excellence and a model programme.

STORIES OF IMPACT

Meet Ronald

Ronald arrived at our home in Santa Cruz after a long battling with drug and alcohol addiction. He found a family at Quinta Totaices and attributes his successful rehabilitation to the structure he experienced and the care he received.

Meet Pepe

For 15 years, Pepe was lost in alcoholism. He lived in Argentina, but this alcohol addiction led me to lose everything, before then finding Novō Communities in Bolivia.

Meet Benigno

Since Benigno was 7 years old, he has lived on the streets of Santa Cruz. When he was 11 years old, he went to a dining room for street kids where some of the kids introduced him to clefa (glue).
